Things to Consider Before Going on a Family Trip During School Time
September 30th, 2010Students often want to take advantage of any holiday just to be out of school. Have you noticed this? This is primarily because in that way, they will be momentarily free from waking up early, doing homework and studying for their exams! How tempting this is! Well, I had my fair share of wishing for, and desperately waiting for, every holiday in the school calendar! I remember that I would often talk about my excitement for events like these with my best friend. We would share our woes and do all our whining over the telephone, especially if we had multiple deadlines to meet that would require sleepless nights. I am just glad that I am done with all that studying now. So, you really cannot remove from students the culture of always wishing that school would end.

There were also times when I also had to miss classes for a day or two because of being on a family trip. Of course, my parents did not want to enjoy being in another place without me. Most parents would not want to be away from their children on holiday. Am I right? However, the good thing was, my parents would always make sure that I would not miss tests, by coordinating with my teachers before I was absent. In that way, I was in a win-win situation as I was not left behind and I did not get to miss a lot of lessons from school. So, Mom and Dad, if there really is no other option but for your child to be absent from school, you might as well prepare your child first by taking into consideration the lessons that he or she might miss and explore their feelings about not having to attend school for a few days.
