Things to Consider Before Going on a Family Trip During School Time

September 30th, 2010

Students often want to take advantage of any holiday just to be out of school. Have you noticed this? This is primarily because in that way, they will be momentarily free from waking up early, doing homework and studying for their exams! How tempting this is! Well, I had my fair share of wishing for, and desperately waiting for, every holiday in the school calendar! I remember that I would often talk about my excitement for events like these with my best friend. We would share our woes and do all our whining over the telephone, especially if we had multiple deadlines to meet that would require sleepless nights. I am just glad that I am done with all that studying now. So, you really cannot remove from students the culture of always wishing that school would end.

There were also times when I also had to miss classes for a day or two because of being on a family trip. Of course, my parents did not want to enjoy being in another place without me. Most parents would not want to be away from their children on holiday. Am I right?  However, the good thing was, my parents would always make sure that I would not miss tests, by coordinating with my teachers before I was absent.  In that way, I was in a win-win situation as I was not left behind and I did not get to miss a lot of lessons from school. So, Mom and Dad, if there really is no other option but for your child to be absent from school, you might as well prepare your child first by taking into consideration the lessons that he or she might miss and explore their feelings about not having to attend school for a few days.

Castle Resorts & Hotels Give Your Kids Free Meals

September 29th, 2010

Going on a family trip can provide you with two things. The first is, it can really be fun because there are a lot of you who will be enjoying the food and the places you visit. You will also get to talk about everything that is happening around you right at that moment. Isn’t that nice? However, if things get out of hand, the whole family trip could be totally chaotic, especially if there are kids along with you. So, if you plan a trip like this, you better be ready with the possible things that might happen and I advise you to just find reasons to enjoy every bit of your stay.

As a kid, I was sometimes brought along on trips by my mom, either personal or business. I have been to buffets and engagements because there was no one to attend to my needs if I had been left at home. One event that I cannot forget was when we went to a five-star hotel and ate at a buffet that cost far too much. The sad thing was I barely ate as I was not feeling very well. Although, even if I had been feeling alright that time, I bet I would not have been able to consume enough to justify the amount paid for me. So it is good news that some hotels offer free meals for kids, isn’t it?

You Should Never Text And Drive

September 28th, 2010

Guilty as charged! Are you? Well, I am. Technically, I started driving  a car at the age of 16. I was a very cautious driver then but then, as i got more familiar with it all, I started being lax. I was literally breaking the law since sometimes, I would not bring my license with me and still drive around the city. Of course I was very careful not to do anything wrong so that I would not be caught. Aside from that, I would sometimes accept phone calls and text messages while driving. Have you read the news about teenagers being able to send a text message without even looking at the keypad? That is just an ability that we, the younger generation, have acquired.

I know that what I have described is really wrong and could have caused an accident. And so, if I may still advise you, please do not attempt to multitask at the wheel. Driving requires your full concentration all the time. You might find yourself in an accident just because of a momentary lack of attention. Just imagine if you are traveling with your family and you have been driving for long hours already. It is possible that you might not see a truck or any vehicle heading in your direction if you have been on your cellular phone. Am I right? So instead of enjoying your planned family trip, you might find yourselves anywhere but there. You should always be a careful driver, not a careless or injured one.

One Way to Plan a Short Getaway

September 28th, 2010

Most people are so preoccupied with things that they tend to ignore their body’s need for some rest. It is as if they are going to lose a significant amount of money if they ever take a rest. For some, this may be true, especially if they are being paid on an hourly basis. But, whatever the case may be, our body must not be deprived of its need to stop working even for just a while and allow the cells to regenerate and function properly again.

With all of life’s stresses, I came to admire one person because of how well she handles everything with ease. That is something that not everybody is good at. Would you agree? There are those who go crazy just because they are not able to cope with the problems that come their way. This woman I know is always tranquil. She says that life’s too short to consume energy worrying. So if there are problems, just be calm and take time to think over them and you will find the solution. Despite her busy schedule, she never fails to take chances and have fun with her family and loved ones. She does not really mind if a short vacation costs her because she says that money can always be earned. Because of the limited amount of time available, it is best to look for a hotel or recreation area where you can maximize your time and money. For her, these short getaways keep her sane, she says. Why don’t you try this technique? It might help you too.

Isn’t it nice to consume services or commodities for free? Like for example, try asking your friend to treat you at any fast food chain. You will find that it is much more delicious to eat those burgers and fries because you did not have to pay for them!

It may sound weird but it is actually true. On another note, do you also find pleasure in receiving freebies from a product or service that you have paid for? In groceries, sometimes, there are free items that are included with a particular product. I usually take advantage of buying those with freebies because they can save me money.

Now, let’s see. How do you think you will feel when you have a free plane ticket? It is such a nice treat. Am I right? With the cost of airfares, this will be a big saving on your expenses. So, if you are planning to go together with your family, then you could spend the money on other things instead.

Halloween 2010 Begins in Universal Orlando Resort

September 27th, 2010

I can’t remember when I first went trick or treating around my neighborhood. I can only remember how excited I was to dress up in my costume for the year, and even more excited about the treats that I might get from each door that I knocked. I was once a fairy, a ladybug, a sunflower, a cat. The worst that I had was a vampire costume. That was one Halloween that I really was not happy about. I just walked one block and went straight back home. I felt so ugly and unwanted.

Oh well, those were the days. As you grew up, you never grew out of celebrating Halloween. Whether in school or at work, everybody turns into a kid again, wearing their favorite costume of all time. Of course, I would never want to become a vampire again. What makes Halloween interesting for all ages is the party and the treats, and the joy of being a kid again.

Virgin Holidays Hits the Hotel Hot Spots

September 7th, 2010

Traveling to an unfamiliar place is not that easy, especially if you have to deal with a language barrier. Am I right? It’s good if you can travel with someone who can at least understand a bit of the language at your destination. So, unless you love uncertainty and excitement, it is wise to arrange your hotel accommodation and itinerary beforehand so that, from the moment the plane lands, you have an idea of where to go. This will spare you from looking for a nice hotel that could take you forever. Worse is you might just end up at a not-so-good hotel as you have already become tired of walking.

Whilst looking for a hotel where you could relax and have a great experience, you might first consider the activities that would be available for you at each location. If you can find a package of air fare together with your desired hotel accommodation, then this can be the cheapest and most convenient option. However, if you have not chosen a particular hotel yet, and you are in the lucky position where money is no object, then you could always consider the best hotels in the world. The prices may be as high as a skyscraper but you will surely never forget every bit of your stay. This is just one way of savoring all your hard work. Most people cannot afford the most expensive hotels, and those who can are often reluctant to indulge themselves! It is as if they live just to work!

What to Watch Out for at Macy’s Parade 2010

September 5th, 2010

An annual parade in New York anticipated by millions of viewers worldwide has grown bigger since 1924 when it was first held by the employees of Macy’s department stores who are proud of their American heritage. They adapted the type of celebration that Europeans have to their Thanksgiving celebrations.

Back then, it was called the Macy’s Christmas Parade. Together with some hired entertainers, they marched from Harlem to the first Macy’s store in New York. Because it was such a big success, it has become tradition where Santa Claus was welcomed at Herald Square.
